SPORTS + GAMING + CODING + AI + TEAMWORK

What is
Fully Charged?

Fully Charged is an interactive technology education program that uses gaming and sports to introduce students to coding, artificial intelligence, game development and collaborative problem-solving.

Through a five-session experience, students move from learning basic coding concepts to designing and developing their own game-based projects.

The program is designed to make technology approachable by connecting it to something students already understand and enjoy: sports, gaming, competition and teamwork.

The curriculum's core goals include blending sports and technology, creating games, teamwork, accessible coding tools, GitHub and Copilot.

Technology through a different lense

Fully Charged is designed to expose students to technology through hands-on learning rather than traditional classroom instruction. Students aren't simply hearing about coding or AI, they're using technology to build, experiment, troubleshoot, collaborate and create.

Key Skills Students Will Develop:

  • Technical Skills

  • Coding fundamentals

  • Game development

  • AI prompting

  • GitHub and version control

  • Debugging

  • Digital design

  • Life & Career Skills

  • Creative problem-solving

  • Teamwork

  • Communication

  • Project management

  • Adaptability

  • Role ownership

The 5-session Journey

This five-part structure mirrors our original Activation Kit:

Session 1

Foundation and Setup

Introduction to Fully Charged, coding fundamentals and MakeCode Arcade. Students begin exploring game development and establish tools used throughout the program.

Session 2

Game Logic & Copilot

Students connect rules in sports to rules in coding, explore GitHub and GitHub Copilot, learn introductory AI prompting and practice debugging.

Session 3

Design, Assets & Teamwork

Students begin customizing their games, creating visual assets and working in defined project teams while being introduced to project management.

Session 4

Build Sprint

Teams bring their skills together to develop, test, troubleshoot and refine their projects.

Session 5

Final Showcase

Students complete and present their projects, demonstrating what they've built and what they've learned.

What will students actually learn?

Throughout Fully Charged, students will:

  • Microsoft MakeCode Arcade

  • Introductory coding concepts

  • Build and modify playable games

  • Create and use GitHub accounts

  • Learn how developers store and manage projects

  • Use GitHub Copilot as an AI coding assistant

  • Write prompts and evaluate AI-generated suggestions

  • Identify and debug problems

  • Design custom characters, backgrounds and game objects

  • Work collaboratively in project teams

  • Present their final work
